About this artwork
My daughter's ADHD was not discovered until she was 17. It was the internal type, where girls sit quietly with their uber-active minds. They are exhausted, irritable, cannot hear you and have a difficult time reading social clues and being a part of something that does not interest them. She was clever in school so went under radar. We had conflicts. I was an insecure mother and thought I had done everything wrong. She managed to stay a lovely girl… despite being misunderstood so many years... This painting was my punishment for yelling at her that day. A little tear sparkled in her eye but she didn't want to cry. She was of course confused about why mom was yelling again. I wrote a story for her as a gift for her 18th birthday. The book will have this painting as the front page. It be called Monster and the Big Sister.
« I am the person holding the brush but my paintings have a life of their own. »
