About this artwork
This piece was created during my most recent solo exhibition in October 2025 in Montreal. Having had the opportunity not only to exhibit for two wonderful weeks in the gallery's window display, but also to create in the gallery owner's studio every day, working exclusively on paper. Twenty-six works on paper were created during this time. Here is one of these pieces, created entirely with oil sticks.

Benoît Tremblay, a self-taught painter, works between painting and collage, his development enriched by a career punctuated by exhibitions and artist residencies. He blends American abstract expressionism with avant-garde influences such as Dada and CoBrA, alternating vigorous gestures with meticulous, calm details on large surfaces. His works, deeply introspective and rooted in socio-political reflection, convey a humanist emotional charge, a desire to challenge and illuminate the absurdity and abstraction of our daily lives.
