About this artwork
I've never been a big fan of the sun, because I find its summer heat unbearable... Especially in Montreal, in the heat and humidity island it represents. But during the summer of 2024, I have to admit I discovered some virtues, conveniences, and above all, a pleasant way of life that it brings with it and the smiles of children.

Benoît Tremblay, a self-taught painter, works between painting and collage, his development enriched by a career punctuated by exhibitions and artist residencies. He blends American abstract expressionism with avant-garde influences such as Dada and CoBrA, alternating vigorous gestures with meticulous, calm details on large surfaces. His works, deeply introspective and rooted in socio-political reflection, convey a humanist emotional charge, a desire to challenge and illuminate the absurdity and abstraction of our daily lives.
