About this artwork
Green 10. 10th painting of a series of 10. Green is about evoking the sensory memory of being surrounded by nature at its most alive. It invits the viewer to step into a space where colour speaks louder the form, and where the feeling of the garden takes root in the imagination.
I am an Antwerp-based artist, born and raised in the north of the city, where grey skies, strong opinions, and good light have all played their part in shaping my work. I am self-taught, though growing up with an artist mother and a family permanently orbiting around art meant I never really had a chance to escape it anyway. I’ve been painting and drawing since a young age, and at some point I made the inevitable leap into abstraction. My work is deeply inspired by the nature around my neighbourhood and the landscapes I encounter, but just as much by events, social dynamics, and the wonderfully confusing behavior of humans. All my paintings are oil on canvas and built up in multiple layers, creating depth—both visually and emotionally—much like the thoughts that tend to pile up while making them. I exhibited my work for a while, then slowed down due to other occupations (life has a talent for doing that). Now feels like the right moment to go to the next level and properly contribute
