About this artwork
saved
We remember, Bob Dylan singing about his new album "I'M SAVED" . . . in the blood of the lamb. The message of salvation went around the world to my generation in 1980. In the series "The Bride" the necessity of salvation, the miracle, and how it happens are described. Using Chagall's imagery, the people of Israel, from whom salvation comes, are also presented. The symbol of the Holy Spirit is represented by the rooster. In the picture "Red… Roofs" we recognize the step out of the old life into a "new". Reuse of metaphors from the series "The Bride": The rooster - the Holy Spirit. The bride - here seized by the Holy Spirit. The wedding dress: here it is exchanged as if conjured from a bottle.
You will receive one of six hand-painted replicas from the Chagall edition. (The advertisement shows the original – the original is not for sale). Delivery time is approximately 6-8 weeks after receipt of order.
Bernhard Maria Moehnle is a German-born and trained painter who, after his experience in stage design and animation, devoted himself entirely to painting ("solapintura"). He develops a unique visual language for each series of paintings, combining classical modernism with artists such as Rembrandt, Chagall, and Max Ernst, thus creating a distinctive neo-Renaissance style. His works convey profoundly emotional messages of Christianity and touch the viewer with their symbolic clarity, spiritual depth, and expressive power.
