Chagallesque – A Glimpse into Eternity
The Bride of the Wind is in dialogue with the legacy of Marc Chagall – the artist who wanted to demonstrate to his Jewish brothers and sisters in faith in vibrant colors that the Messiah was already among them. Chagall painted the promise – but many failed to recognize it.
Chagall's spirit lives on here: in my painting, which reflects the connection between heavenly longing and earthly reality.
A sail billowing… from the storm transforms into a bridal veil, the threatening clouds become a bridal bouquet in which a bird of consolation is hidden – a symbol of the Holy Spirit.
We must enter the Kingdom of God through many tribulations—and yet we return adorned with pearls, transformed, sustained by the divine breath. Thus, the threatening becomes a symbol of consolation, the storm-tossed a sign of overcoming. An image of faith that transforms suffering into beauty.

Bernhard Maria Moehnle is a German-born and trained painter who, after his experience in stage design and animation, devoted himself entirely to painting ("solapintura"). He develops a unique visual language for each series of paintings, combining classical modernism with artists such as Rembrandt, Chagall, and Max Ernst, thus creating a distinctive neo-Renaissance style. His works convey profoundly emotional messages of Christianity and touch the viewer with their symbolic clarity, spiritual depth, and expressive power.
