About this artwork
The disturbing imagery is presented in a highly decorative way. The pain and
visceral vanitas of life being present, hidden in plain sight. Not something shameful
necessarily, but capable of being though of as beautiful, in its own way.
Flowerbed was exhibited in "The Horse and The Fish", BerriBlue's fifth solo show, in 2019.
The exhibition explored the concept of virtual heritage, the aesthetics of the artist's childhood and its effects on her… work.

« I think of paintings as puzzles to be resolved, expressing a true emotional experience. I create strong sentimental attachments, and breathe life into them as objects in their own right. »
Berriblue is an emerging Polish-Irish artist based in Porto, Portugal whose paintings have been exhibited internationally and published in numerous magazines. Originally trained as a printmaker and graphic designer, Berriblue built her reputation in Dublin as a street artist under her earlier pseudonym, JTB. Her work in the studio and on the street explores themes of religion, sexuality, mental health, and personal identity.
