About this artwork
Minimalist touches and a limited palette are the methods I chose to express the fullness and beauty of this moment. The silhouette of this island against the backdrop of the successive blue hues of the Peloponnese mountains in the distance, and the still sea, gave me a feeling of eternity, which I wanted to share with this work.

A graduate of ENSAD Paris, Bertille Gentil has been exploring the fragile memory of living things for three decades. Her Arctic residency in Svalbard (2019) marked a turning point: from radical land art to lucid contemplation through painting.
Based in Aegina, she creates "sensitive archives"—paintings that capture Mediterranean landscapes before they burn. Neither nostalgic nor alarmist, her canvases are evidence of existence for future generations.
His collaborations with Rastoni Hotel and Nadaud Paris demonstrate a practice rooted in the dialogue between art and territory.
His work pays homage to the world as it still exists.
