Every collection begins with connection points - whether those are physical connections between hands and brush, brush and paint or conceptual connections between past and present, dreams and reality. This series started simply with a connection between myself and the canvas - trusting that my physical body can remember and then translate scattered thoughts and experiences onto a real surface, using the appropriate materials to best speak the language…
of ideas. Airy strokes and watery pools are juxtaposed against clean edges and thin marks. Bold, earthy, grounding tones are intertwined with feather-like sweeps of color.
In this season of life, I find myself at a bit of a halfway point between

Beth Winterburn is an experienced artist from the United States whose paintings have been featured in shows nationally. Interested in art ever since she was young, Winterburn developed her current practice creating abstract paintings in inks, acrylics, and latex using watercolor techniques throughout her work. She explores various dichotomies in her practice surrounding themes of freedom, nature, and tension through gestural marks and bold brushstrokes.
