About this artwork
In this painting, I endeavored to capture the essence of an old town through the medium of oil paints, focusing on realism to evoke a deep sense of nostalgia and timelessness. The warm, earthy tones of the walls contrast with the dynamic blues and whites in the sky, conveying both the endurance and the wear of history. These structures, with their open doors and weathered surfaces, whisper stories of the past, inviting observers to step into a world… that balances the transient and the eternal. I hope this piece brings a whisper of history and a sense of enduring beauty into your space, encouraging reflection and connection to times long passed.
Betty Khatchikian started her artistic journey at a very young age, translating her unique vision of the world onto canvases. Growing up, she immersed herself in the art of painting, exploring the world through brushes and colors. After a transformative five-year trip to China, where she engaged in deep soul-searching, Khatchikian returned to Beirut with a renewed focus on transforming her passion into a career. She refined her skills through online workshops with internationally renowned artists. As a self-taught Armenian artist, her work has evolved over time from classical realism to contemporary forms. Betty defies conventional labels, as her art is unified by a central exploration of psychological themes. Employing a diverse range of mediums, particularly oil paints and charcoal, she is known for her live portraits and figure studies, often seen on the shores of Lebanon with her easel, capturing the world around her.
