About this artwork
The work is the second part of a series that will begin in 2010. Abstract lines and surfaces, rhythms and allusions to space come together: a line from a song by Bob Dylan provides the loose framework: a pair of lovers in abstract sequences of movement and time.
Abstraction is gaining the upper hand here, in contrast to the first part of the series, in which a kissing couple is still clearly recognizable.
The picture was created using a mixed technique… of acrylic paint, ink, chalk, oilsticks and various colored pencils.
Many layers of paint are now on top of each other, the picture was not finished for a long time by the artist. It was then put away for years and finished in one go this summer.
The painting is signed on the back and can be hung without framing.
« Among other things, I want to depict traces of yesterday and the day before yesterday on the canvas, without a specific reference or rating. »
Birgit Fechner is an exciting German painter who has exhibited her work throughout Europe. Inspired by the contrast between Munich and Berlin, nature and roughness, she places opposing emotions alongside each other in vibrant, rhythmic abstract works. Her recurring motifs include flowers, cities and life and death, each infusing each painting with meaning behind the aesthetic.
