About this artwork
Each work in the "Besser" series consists of two parts, a diptych, so to speak. The first is a paper cut (Nero on paper), the second is formed by the same outline, but is cut from a photograph. Each individual part has a maximum size of 35x50cm. If you look more closely, you can see a word that is formed from the lines. Apart from the prototype (Liebestaumler), the words are based on a quote from the author Doris Knecht - from her book "Besser":…
"(...) .... that stable hovering between wakefulness and sleep, in which life is not only made up of facts and hard, tangible facts, but can mix with what is dreamed of and what is longed for, and where what you want coexists with what you get Has. Maybe that's what dying feels like. I dont know. But I know that I still want to hold onto this feeling or the memory of it ... "
