About this artwork
The series of cut-offs "changing pictures" plays with the idea of creating images that can change and show themselves over and over again. Thus the meanings, contents and moods can change with the position of the individual parts and the owner of the drawing work is given the possibility to vary even the form of the pictures. He becomes the creator of the exclusive observer himself.
The individual parts are drawn with Nero (black chalk) on Bristolkarton,… cut out and assembled with screws and nuts. Like joints, the individual fragments, which have tree-like structures and sometimes bone-like forms, are now connected. Anyone familiar with Birgit Pleschberger's earlier puppet drawings will notice that the themes of the hinges and joints are repeated here in a different way. Movement and stagnation, emergence and decay - once again there are opposites or exist side by side.
