About this artwork
The shapes and rich colors bring to mind the work of Gustav Klimt and the Austrian Secession of early 20th century Vienna, which has always been a focus of inspiration. We must nurture the impulse to turn away from the status quo of culture and find new paths for creativity.

« The world is broken, and I deal with it by painting, which makes it an act of hope. »
Björn Bauer is an award-winning artist based in Germany who has exhibited his works in the United States. His abstract paintings express what it feels like to live in this current time, translating our shared experience of the acceleration of technological, societal, and environmental crises. Bauer applies visual cues within his compositions, such as a buildup of fingerprints on a glass screen, or the interruption of an image through a failing digital signal.
