About this artwork
I've always been fascinated by the name of the supermarket chain "real,-." What a powerful word! With a simple trick, I reduced the word to absurdity: by spraying the lettering very blurry, standing in front of the canvas, one has anything but the impression of reality: derealization, in other words!
Björn Saul is a painter, photographer, draftsman, and conceptual artist with extensive training at the Academy of Fine Arts Karlsruhe. His works range from object art, installations, and descriptive "word objects" to innovative paintings on butterfly-shaped canvases and subtle photographs of everyday occurrences. With playful precision, he combines language, everyday motifs, and seemingly trivial elements to create surprising reinterpretations of the visible. His art invites us to look at the world anew with wonder and curiosity and to discover the mystery in the everyday.
