About this artwork
I'm fascinated by René Magritte's painting "Ceci n'est pas une pipe." It points us to the difference between representation and reality. Starting with this image, I considered how to sharpen this question even further. Then I came up with the idea of using a so-called nail game. I mounted five of them on small wooden boxes. Then I made three casts of pipes and used two real pipes. These are now in the boxes and create the shape of a pipe in the nail…
games. But whether it's a pipe or just a cast, no one knows. Not even me.
