About this artwork
My work is an expression of close observations of landscape, a contemporary presentation of what I observe. Though I have a love of drawing, and the magical layering of printmaking, my paintings use the medium of oil on canvas to encapsulate the place where the sea meets the land, a place of constant change and visual magic. Observation of this site has become the focus of a series of works under the title ‘TIDE’, the landscape at my feet, the relentless…
covering then revealing of the surface as the tide ebbs and flows. This is a place which offers both tranquility and chaos, together with the changing moods of light and colour. As with the tide, the paintings come and go often beginning with a riot of colour and paint which is moved, removed and replaced on the journey. I work in a series of Diptych format large canvases.
