About this artwork
“Withering Life in the Passage of Time”
A small pot placed in darkness shows withering petals and drooping stems
over time, metaphorically reflecting the life of a human being. This fading
vitality captures the impermanence and solitude of existence.
Beside it, a fallen petal lies next to a half-eaten orange and two remaining
segments, resembling fragments of a life dispersed and remnants left behind.
They symbolize the traces of time and… moments fading away.
Bongeun Koo is a painter with a deep longitudinal admiration for post-medieval art from the 14-17th century. He implements an amalgamation of techniques such as sfumato and stippling to symbolize his intentions; his paintings render dramatic scenes that actively embody his emotional states. Koo's work navigates the tumultuous seas of introspection, reflecting an ongoing dialogue with both despair and hope.
