« Mixing old concepts of form and content with current subjects and media is my way of accepting the present while invoking a part of the past that I always idealize. »
Accepting the passage of time is Helena Pallarés' unresolved question. Through collage and the simplicity of geometric forms, the French draftsman explores themes relating to psychology, nostalgia for the past (especially for her own childhood), as well as cinema. Pallarés' colorful and minimalist pieces are created by cutting, fragmenting, and superimposing numerous layers. She allows herself to be guided either by the graphic augmentation of an idea or by a spontaneous exercise, and her search for the ultimate meaning.
