About this artwork
Listening to the sounds of Bob Marley, she was inspired by the colours of Rastafari: with red being the blood of man, green is land and gold for wealth (or greed). Black too is often found which represents the skin colour of Africans but I changed this to blue for water, vital for life and to encompass all of mankind. Liquid acrylic on stretched canvas with gold leaf foil. This painting would look stunning in any setting and any room! The sides…
have been painted black, perfectly framing the artwork and throws all attention to the front making it 'pop'!

« My motto in life: If I’m not creating, I’m not living! »
Brigitte Ackland is a talented British painter based in Australia who has exhibited her work throughout both countries. Previously a full-time ceramic and mosaic artist, with additional experience in photography and embroidery, today she primarily applies her skills to painting. Living on the west coast of Australia heavily influences her work: the white sand, red earth and swirling tropical seas of the Indian Ocean dance along her canvases and leap towards the viewer. Ackland ultimately seeks to create a sense of visual harmony in her painting, and hopes they resonate with people.
