In Australia, if a dead tree is painted blue it is a symbol of hope for those suffering and battling mental health issues. Here, she's created a surreal and stunning landscape using liquid acrylic and hand painted trees to great effect in honour of this concept. The liquid acrylic dried with wonderful texture and patterning throughout and the metallics reflect the iron oxides that give the Australian landscape its rich, red earthy colour.

Brigitte Ackland is a talented British painter based in Australia who has exhibited her work throughout both countries. Previously a full-time ceramic and mosaic artist, with additional experience in photography and embroidery, today she primarily applies her skills to painting. Living on the west coast of Australia heavily influences her work: the white sand, red earth and swirling tropical seas of the Indian Ocean dance along her canvases and leap towards the viewer. Ackland ultimately seeks to create a sense of visual harmony in her painting, and hopes they resonate with people.
