About this artwork
She was listening to Pink Floyd's haunting album Dark Side of the Moon when she created this mysterious design with an intricate tapestry of patterning and a restrained colour palette. Brigitte Ackland is a talented British painter based in Australia who has exhibited her work throughout both countries. Previously a full-time ceramic and mosaic artist, with additional experience in photography and embroidery, today she primarily applies her skills to painting. Living on the west coast of Australia heavily influences her work: the white sand, red earth and swirling tropical seas of the Indian Ocean dance along her canvases and leap towards the viewer. Ackland ultimately seeks to create a sense of visual harmony in her painting, and hopes they resonate with people.
