Portals can be a gateway or entrance to another space, time or even dimension. In the psychic world, people who are portals draw others to them and allow them to pass through from one existence to another. In this series, the artist will be exploring the idea that through the abstract placement of colour on a round canvas, the eyes will be drawn to revolve around these, creating the sensation of spiraling… movement, a phenomena that will naturally draw the viewer in to the centre, the very heart of her portal.
This subtle and mysterious painting would make a stunning statement in any room and would look especially wonderful in a coastal home.
Using metallic acrylics allows the light to bounce off, which makes the painting change colour depending on the angle it is viewed from; the photos reflect this. There is great surface texture, created by applying textured paste to the canvas before it was painted.

Brigitte Ackland is a talented British painter based in Australia who has exhibited her work throughout both countries. Previously a full-time ceramic and mosaic artist, with additional experience in photography and embroidery, today she primarily applies her skills to painting. Living on the west coast of Australia heavily influences her work: the white sand, red earth and swirling tropical seas of the Indian Ocean dance along her canvases and leap towards the viewer. Ackland ultimately seeks to create a sense of visual harmony in her painting, and hopes they resonate with people.
