About this artwork
Her daily walks along the rocky outcrops at her local beach, inspired this beautiful seascape. Acrylic and thick liquid acrylic capture the essence of the water, as it mingles and swirls around the rocks on the shoreline. Applying the paint thickly even when liquid, has created a wonderfully textured surface with almost 3D depth in places, with the paint flowing and covering the sides. In Indian folklore, rain is brought by a bird and as the design…
looks like the spreadout wings of a bird, she felt the title was befitting.
The canvas was stretched over a cradled hardboard, which provides the perfect stable subtrate for this type of liquid acrylic art.

« My motto in life: If I’m not creating, I’m not living! »
Brigitte Ackland is a talented British painter based in Australia who has exhibited her work throughout both countries. Previously a full-time ceramic and mosaic artist, with additional experience in photography and embroidery, today she primarily applies her skills to painting. Living on the west coast of Australia heavily influences her work: the white sand, red earth and swirling tropical seas of the Indian Ocean dance along her canvases and leap towards the viewer. Ackland ultimately seeks to create a sense of visual harmony in her painting, and hopes they resonate with people.
