About this artwork
Paintings on round canvases inspired by celestial objects: the moon, sun, planets, stars, galaxies and everything else found in the sky above! As a girl and camping outside, she was fascinated by the night-time sky, gazing up at the stars and dreaming about other solar systems. This fascination grew into a love of reading science fiction novels by Isaac Asimov, Arthur C. Clarke and others then along came the Star Wars series which again enthralled…
and captured her fertile imagination. She has never lost this love of space and all things science fiction and her recent exploration with round canvases has sparked an interest in creating abstract worlds on these; worlds that are alien yet somehow familiar at the same time.

Brigitte Ackland is a talented British painter based in Australia who has exhibited her work throughout both countries. Previously a full-time ceramic and mosaic artist, with additional experience in photography and embroidery, today she primarily applies her skills to painting. Living on the west coast of Australia heavily influences her work: the white sand, red earth and swirling tropical seas of the Indian Ocean dance along her canvases and leap towards the viewer. Ackland ultimately seeks to create a sense of visual harmony in her painting, and hopes they resonate with people.
