About this artwork
The coast of Western Australia, where she lives, provides much inspiration for her work; the beauty and mercurial nature of the Indian Ocean and the lighting bouncing off it; the patterns and designs created as the waves recede over the rocks, leaving behind tide pools in the soft, white sand. Her favourite medium of liquid acrylics beautifully captures and mimics the flow and movement of water, creating organic designs similar to nature. This…
diptych painting would look especially stunning in a coastal home or as a beautiful abstract in any setting. There is great flexibility in this diptych, which works equally well portrait, landscape and even rearranged to form a square. The canvas was stretched over cradled hardboard, which is the perfect subtrate for heavy body liquid acrylic art.

« My motto in life: If I’m not creating, I’m not living! »
Brigitte Ackland is a talented British painter based in Australia who has exhibited her work throughout both countries. Previously a full-time ceramic and mosaic artist, with additional experience in photography and embroidery, today she primarily applies her skills to painting. Living on the west coast of Australia heavily influences her work: the white sand, red earth and swirling tropical seas of the Indian Ocean dance along her canvases and leap towards the viewer. Ackland ultimately seeks to create a sense of visual harmony in her painting, and hopes they resonate with people.
