About this artwork
Her daily walks along the beach often inspire her art, which is influenced by the time of day or the time of year which in turn dictates her colour palette. She especially loves capturing the movement of water as it swirls creating abstract shapes and patterning. The red colour is metallic copper, which creates a beautiful sheen and depth. The sides of the canvas have been painted black, throwing all focus on the design.

Brigitte Ackland is a talented British painter based in Australia who has exhibited her work throughout both countries. Previously a full-time ceramic and mosaic artist, with additional experience in photography and embroidery, today she primarily applies her skills to painting. Living on the west coast of Australia heavily influences her work: the white sand, red earth and swirling tropical seas of the Indian Ocean dance along her canvases and leap towards the viewer. Ackland ultimately seeks to create a sense of visual harmony in her painting, and hopes they resonate with people.
