About this artwork
Living on the coast of Western Australia provides the artist with ample opportunity to study and be inspired by the beautiful Indian Ocean, the vibrant blue often reflected in her colour palette. The canvas was textured, handpainted then liquid acrylic used to create a large wave roaring to shore, full of latent energy yet frozen in time in beautiful hues of turquoise and ultramarine. Behind the wave, is a 3D textured band, to give an unusual abstract…
projection to the painting. This highly original and contemporary painting would look wonderful on any wall and in any room. Your own personal porthole to the beach!
The sides have been painted black, throwing all attention to the front, making it 'pop'!

« My motto in life: If I’m not creating, I’m not living! »
Brigitte Ackland is a talented British painter based in Australia who has exhibited her work throughout both countries. Previously a full-time ceramic and mosaic artist, with additional experience in photography and embroidery, today she primarily applies her skills to painting. Living on the west coast of Australia heavily influences her work: the white sand, red earth and swirling tropical seas of the Indian Ocean dance along her canvases and leap towards the viewer. Ackland ultimately seeks to create a sense of visual harmony in her painting, and hopes they resonate with people.
