About this artwork
This engraving is part of a set of four called "parcours". It was born from a sentence by Georges Semprun in his book "writing or life" where he says that he "needed to collect himself, that is to say to pick up the scattered pieces of himself ". This was 40 years after his imprisonment in Buchenwald in January 1944.
The set includes: "cluttered", "overflow", "scattered" and "collected".

Brigitte Rallu is an award-winning printmaker and sculptor based in France whose works have been exhibited nationally, as well as in the United States and Switzerland. Through her pieces, she explores varying aspects of the human condition. Rallu's use of diverse materials such as clay, bronze, wire mesh, cardboard, paper, wool, dolls, etc. gives rise to "other ways of saying".
