The Bonney Upwelling is a marine phenomenon off the coast of Portland, Victoria, in which deep, nutrient-rich cold water is drawn upwards towards the ocean’s surface replacing the warmer, usually nutrient-depleted, surface water. ‘Upwelling II’ is a limited edition screenprint, rendered in crisp blue and white. The composition reveals a powerful whale form emerging through a dense field of microscopic marine life. The work draws on Gow’s fascination… with ecological systems, biodiversity and unusual perspectives and her experience as a Biology and Environmental Science teacher. This artwork will bring a calming yet dynamic energy to your space, reminding you of the beauty and mystery beneath the waves.
