About this artwork
After years of pure abstraction, this new series of paintings is an effort to apply abstract principles to empty interiors. While painting light and defining space, the overriding objective is to create a sense of mystery and elusiveness. The viewer is prompted to ask the questions: What preceded? What follows? What lies just beyond sight?

Bruce Dean is an experienced painter and draftsman based in the United States whose works have been widely exhibited nationally. Having always been drawn to mystery, he describes his compositions as an attempt to access imagery and an essential aesthetic that all humans share, at a pre-language level. Dean's striking pieces are created using oils and graphite on wood or canvas.
