About this artwork
In Instant Vintage, I’m weaving together memory, mythology, and pure improvisation into one restless, breathing structure. Like many of my works, it carries a tribalistic, almost ancient vibe—rooted in primal mark-making—yet still feels sharply modern in its energy and attitude. When I began, I wasn’t trying to depict a single narrative; instead, I let the forms build themselves, almost like a visual jazz riff, allowing the composition to evolve…
with its own rhythm and intuition.
As the painting took shape, figures and symbols began to surface—an angelic form lifting upward, a crowned presence observing from above, botanical motifs pushing through the abstraction. None of these were predetermined; they emerged as I carved through the layers of line and pigment, revealing the subconscious architecture underneath. The crown, the offering bowl, the flowering elements… they read like artifacts from an ancient culture that never existed, yet somehow feels familiar.
