About this artwork
I very much enjoy painting thickets of birch trees. The bright white of the birch bark sets the stage for colours of leaves in all seasons. I am fascinated with the interplay of light and colour in such scenes, evoking the feel of crisp air and warmth of sunlight filtering through the leaves. The scene's location is in the foothills of northern Alberta, where the long valleys afford a view of the horizon far in the background. INV#19005
