About this artwork
In this series, I explore the beauty of birds by emphasizing their colors and forms, placing the subjects against a soft green background with blurred, atmospheric details inviting a sense of connection with nature and wildlife. Monk parakeets (Myiopsitta monachus) are psittacids native to South America, occurring mainly in southern Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay, and Uruguay. They form monogamous pairs, in which the male and female remain together… and cooperate in reproduction and the care of their chicks. The species is also notable for living in colonies and building large communal nests made of sticks, shared by several pairs.
Bruna Carvalho da Silva is a painter, photographer, and printmaker with a background steeped in mosaic, patina, and handcrafting, guided by the creative women in her family. Her work thrives on layered techniques, deftly using light, color, and texture to bring scenes of wildlife to life, often inspired by her own field photography and studies in biological sciences. Through her art, she radiates a deep affection for nature, inviting viewers to feel the sheer beauty and tranquility of staying close to the wild.
