About this artwork
Endemic to the atlantic forest of southern Brazil, the Gralha-azul is the state bird of Paraná and one of the most ecologically significant species of this threatened biome. Its relationship with the Paraná pine (Araucaria angustifolia) is among the most remarkable in Brazilian ornithology. TAhe bird buries pine seeds as food reserves and, by forgetting a portion of them, becomes one of the primary agents of natural forest regeneration.
