About this artwork
I created this work with a burning desire to explore balance and contrast. Using acrylic and tempera, I created a dialogue between emptiness and fullness, between firmness and movement. Each brushstroke reflects a tumult of emotions, while the monochromatic tones increase the abstract depth. Bruno Biondi has displayed his paintings in numerous solo exhibitions throughout his native Italy and Poland. Colorblind at birth, it wasn’t until his artistic style transformed from figurative to informal that he realized how integral color was to his work and that he could not avoid it. Vertical signs are carved and imprinted in each of his pieces, which are all entitled ‘Vertical Concept”. Biondi imbues these symbols with the significance of stability and self-confidence in uncertain times.
