About this artwork
Paper Press is a unique work exhibited as part of the 10 years of the Sofia international paper festival in 2020 held at the San Stefano Gallery. It is made up of tin coat racks on which CMY codes are glued. CMY coding (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, or Cyan, Magenta, Jaune in French, or CMJ) is for subtractive synthesis, what RGB coding is for additive synthesis. This model consists of decomposing a color into values of Cyan, Magenta and Yellow. The absence…
of these three components gives white while their addition gives black. However, the black obtained by the addition of the three colors Cyan, Magenta and Yellow being only partially black in practice (and expensive), the printers add a black ink component which is called pure black. We then speak of four-color process, or CMYK model (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Pure black, or in French CMYK). the work is a game of conversation between languages of white and colors.

« The work of the artist is to find cohesion with space and time. Shapes and colors are nothing more than what our senses are actually able to perceive. »
