About this artwork
body, mind and spirit feels like an underwater landscape, exploring water as both a psychological and spiritual place. The triptych format allows the work to unfold, inviting the viewer into an immersive, meditative field rather than a fixed image.
Water is both subject and method, it is the element I return to in order to feel whole, regulated, and alive in my body. I paint both like water and with water, with each layer of paint and the process… of washing the paint away again, reshaping the surface of the canvas and the paint. What remains is not controlled, but allowed.
Layers of peach, turquoise, teals, deep blues, and black move between shadow and light, evoking the quiet intensity of life beneath the surface. I cry easefully, love deeply, and paint as a way of opening to life - I am built close to water. When I paint, I dance with my brushes and sing love into the canvases with every stroke, allowing love to move through me as water moves through the earth.
Schumacher's practice embodies the beliefs she lives — that love is the life force creating all; everything fundamentally the same energy, infinitely expressed. She calls this Love In All Its Frequencies – LIAIF – indefinable by nature, always in service to love's evolution. She enters each creative process with prayer and surrender, allowing her body to be the instrument through which LIAIF creates. Nothing is withheld. What moves through her body in the making is often unbearable. What arrives on the canvas is beauty. She has come to understand this as the meaning of alchemy: through allowing, lead becomes gold. In a world drowning in pain it cannot process, reason through, justify or repair, she offers this as a possibility – when we turn towards what is here, transformation naturally occurs. Her paintings carry a Rorschach-like quality, every viewer seeing something different. In this way, the paintings remain alive, becoming uniquely personal in the eye of each beholder.
