Credentials

  • Works on commission
Camillo Buccella (1965) lives and works in Abruzzo. With a solid education in the humanities and graphic-pictorial arts, and a background in advertising and publishing, he currently teaches in public education. After a significant research phase focused on digital painting and visual experimentation, his work has undergone a decisive evolution towards the physical dimension of canvas and mixed media.

At this stage of his research, his new works reflect the visceral experience of deep-sea navigation: the route, the wind, and the ocean are not decorative elements, but internal conditions and metaphors of existence. In the Oceanica series, the image gives way to matter, pigment, and layered gesture. The pictorial surface, worked through layering and abrasion, absorbs the weight and friction of the journey. The sea voyage thus transforms into a poetic quest for knowledge, endurance, and the constant transformation of the self.
