About this artwork
Light and darkness are not enemies, but partners in the dance of life. They balance each other, reveal each other, and create contrast and harmony.
Without one, the other would lose its meaning and beauty. 🌞🌙
Why are we so scared to talk about our scars? How would it feel if we could all just talk about what happened to us? And perhaps even more interesting, how can we as a society hold space for these human experiences? These questions are what… I investigate through my abstract art.

« I am highly motivated to live a life as authentic as possible and I am interested in what keeps us away from our own fire and intuition. »
Carine’s artwork is recognized for its abstract qualities, incorporating emotional movement, graffiti type marks and words that reveal her journey.
My work is deeply rooted in personal transformation, shaped by my journey as a survivor of domestic violence.
My artwork is known for its abstract qualities, incorporating emotional movement, graffiti-style marks, and words to establish a ‘social ground’ within my paintings.
Through this process, I aim to question, challenge, and provoke established narratives and cultural hierarchies, particularly those surrounding equality and abuse; while inviting new perspectives and interpretations.
I have studied for almost 20 years at both the Academy of Art in Brugge & Mechelen, Belgium. I am classically trained and I master a wide range of painting and drawing techniques, from realistic work to expressive and experimental styles.
