The series Women with Wings has given me the opportunity to express how one feels the moment you decide to put on your beautiful wings and fly. The moment you decide to stand up, to express your self and to speak your truth. No more playing small or hiding your true self from yourself and the wold. Stepping out into the wilderness of society and be daring, bold and brave. It feels so vulnerable to show your true colors and unlock your heart to… show its full beauty. But does not it feel liberating as well?
This is one of the fewer works where I use less vibrant colors. She expresses a kind of selfesteem and selfconfidence. This Woman with Wings expresses an inner strength that stems from
beeing fully aware of her own worth.
Powerful purple wings... ready to explore the world.

« I am highly motivated to live a life as authentic as possible and I am interested in what keeps us away from our own fire and intuition. »
Carine’s artwork is recognized for its abstract qualities, incorporating emotional movement, graffiti type marks and words that reveal her journey.
My work is deeply rooted in personal transformation, shaped by my journey as a survivor of domestic violence. My artwork is known for its abstract qualities, incorporating emotional movement, graffiti-style marks, and words to establish a ‘social ground’ within my paintings.
Through this process, I aim to question, challenge, and provoke established narratives and cultural hierarchies, particularly those surrounding equality and abuse; while inviting new perspectives and interpretations.
I have studied for almost 20 years at both the Academy of Art in Brugge & Mechelen, Belgium. I am classically trained and I master a wide range of painting and drawing techniques, from realistic work to expressive and experimental styles.
