About this artwork
We often look at the clouds and try to see shapes in them. Imagination is key. In psychology, I was told that to complete a project, you have to dream a lot. That the dream has to become tangible. That's what I often do: dream, imagine, and then make it concrete. So, that's the subject of this spontaneous painting.
Carole Perret primarily uses tempera on wood, a legacy of extensive training at the School of Applied Arts in Bienne and 40 years of advertising illustration. She adopts a figurative, naive, and precise approach, inspired by the Quattrocento, where symbolism, humor, and vibrant colors tell life stories. Through her mischievous little nuns, harlequins, and circus performers, she questions the harmony between appearance and inner being. Her works exude a childlike joy, a mischievous smile, and invite each of us to question our own inner freedoms.
