About this artwork
We were not always strangers to the earth. There was a time, etched in our bones and in stone, when there was no boundary between the hand and the environment.
Humanity did not 'discover' nature; it emerged from it. The first sculpture was not polished marble, but the deep imprint of a foot in damp mud. At that point, these proto-artists were not imposing their will on matter, but rather engaging in a dialogue with it.
Vigor is a cry of clay.… It rises from the shadows of caves to honor the brute strength and unwavering conviction of those who came before us. Every rugged angle seeks to capture that fierce will that knew no doubt, only resilience. It is a tribute to the grit and indomitable spirit that allowed early humanity to overcome the cold and fear, reminding us that our first great work of art was, simply, survival.
