About this artwork
This painting conveys a subtle sense of nostalgia and loss, like a dialogue between a lived past and a future that never came to be. The record player acts as a silent voice of that melancholy: the music fills the space, but has no recipient, becoming an invisible thread that connects to what could have been and no longer is.
The swallows painted on the wall, traditionally a symbol of fidelity and hope, appear here motionless, trapped on the surface,… frozen in a time that stands still. The illuminated swallow represents the hope that still remains; the one in shadow symbolizes absence and the imagined future that has vanished.
The mirror is a key element, as it integrates the viewer into the scene, making them part of the emotional experience. The play speaks not only of a farewell, but also of how dreams can remain suspended in memory without ever coming true.
Carolina Veciana is a painter, illustrator, and printmaker with a degree in Fine Arts from the University of Barcelona and a master's degree in digital graphic design. She employs contemporary figurative techniques on surfaces such as canvas, wood, and paper, using acrylics and a vibrant color palette inspired by comics and pop art. Her works invite reflection on identity and contemporary narrative, conveying vitality, emotion, and an intimate connection between the artistic vision and the viewer's emotional experience.
