Whether we’re gazing at a mountain range or across a mill pond, atmosphere defines the space between the observer and the water, soil, hills, rock. It shifts at every moment. Clouds recede and light flickers across the water. The air seems to thicken and a new shadow defines the edge of a mountainside. A variation of color marks the sky below and above the clouds.
