About this artwork
This artwork refers to the somewhat chaotic (but never boring) early life of the artist living in a three-storey terraced house in the West end of Glasgow in the 70s - the house, though once a place of Victorian grandeur, had definitely seen better days - as had the artist's family. The influence of age-worn surfaces which runs through Caroline Millar's work no doubt began during this time and she sees them as a metaphor for being human and the way…
in which there is beauty in imperfection. Three Ring Circus is 60 x 60 cm on stretched canvas. It comes with a cold wax finish lightly buffed to give it a subtle pebble-like sheen and is ready to hang in a custom-made, hand-painted, off-white, floater frame.
