About this artwork
When I look at this work, I primarily feel a sense of vastness. A feeling of letting go, of having space without knowing exactly what for. It's quieter than my other works, almost understated, and that's precisely what makes it special to me.
It came about after a weekend when it was 37 degrees Celsius outside. I gave a workshop, worked outdoors for hours, and all I could think about was one thing: cooling down. Water. And always that almost cloudless… blue sky above me.
The next day in the studio, it all came together. The longing for coolness, the vastness of the sky, and my recurring floral motifs, which suddenly appeared as if by themselves.
For me, this blue sky represents endless expanse. Not in a geographical sense, but as a space of possibilities. Under an open sky, anything can happen, and that's exactly what feels liberating to me right now.
