About this artwork
'Figure on a bed 3' forms part of a series of images portraying said subject matter forced into semi-abstraction by despair. Each work is made in a single thick layer of oil paint pushed and scraped around its canvas until the flesh upon it appears distressed enough to almost shift before the viewers eyes. It is always night here and nobody answers its questions.
