About this artwork
This painting started with an abstract and expressive background, painted with subtle colors. Casper Verborg used a brought variety of resources such as rags, sponges, palette knives, pieces of cardboard and his hands (don’t worry, he is wearing gloves). With this explicitly present yet abstract and thus more universal background, the images contains notions of a cloudburst or waves of the sea.
Amidst this atmospheric surrounding two figures arises.… According to Verborg, they are as anonymous as they are recognizable. Transcending the individual, they do not stand for themselves but humanity. They are caught in a world that looks like that irresistible piece of candy that is actually of chemical substance, marching towards a colorful and toxic apocalypse.
