About this artwork
This work - and other paintings - acquire the character of a tableau vivant. A handful of individuals stand around silently in the same place. Gathered around a bright yellow carpet in a nondescript room, without furniture. The curtains are closed. When looking at them, you have the impression of people with no purpose. The characters are at a loose end and stare blankly ahead. Some of them are naked, others are dressed. The absence of real contact…
